Buying this one, it's a 2000 with 150k on the clock. She's not perfect, there are some flaws in the clear, there is a puncture in the front bumper cover where it looks like someone rolled back into it with a trailer hitch, and the rear window has some issues. That said, the top still seals well, and the rear window doesn't leak, the fix just looks kind of ghetto, the engine pulls hard, the clutch needs adjusting but engages/disengages smoothly, and the tranny feels solid with no play in the shifter. The shocks will need to be replaced soon, but that was part of the plan to begin with, and the driver side door panel needs to either be replaced or re attached at the bottom but that's easy and inexpensive to do. All in all, for $3k, I'd say it's a solid base for a track toy build.

Congratulations. Definitely the prettiest generation of Miata.

Agreed, though I have honestly been looking at NA 1.8's more simply because they are cheaper usually, but this deal just fell together, and I couldn't pass it up.

Looks nice.

a lot like my '99, same color.

I wonder if they changed it in 2000, because my '99 classic red is single-stage paint.

My car has the preferred equipment package (torsen rear diff, cruise control, Bose CD and tape deck, etc...) and the aero package, (front spoiler and side sills, no rear spoiler)

It also wears a set of 16" aftermarket wheels and tires, rather than the stock 14s or 15s.

The paint is still good, but it has been half-repaired after my brother in law damaged it... he's a body man so he also fixed it properly, which was good. The trunk, rear fenders, and rear bumper cover are now clear-coated because of that... but the front half is still single-stage paint.

The driver's seat upholstery is failing in a couple spots, and the passenger's side door card has some cracks in the arm rest, the e-brake cables need replacement, and the power antenna failed, and was replaced by a cheap aftermarket shorty antenna... plus the regular maintenance coil packs and spark plug wire replacements.

Little niggling detail things for 97K miles of otherwise mechanically trouble-free driving for 15 years. It has been the most mechanically reliable car I have owned, and a fun little thing.

I don't think I would replace it with anything but another Miata, or maybe a Porsche Boxster.

Nice, This one doesn't have a radio in it, but seeing as it's a track toy rather than a DD, that doesn't bother me. But I'm really looking forward to getting it out on a track at the end of March, and also getting the FM coilovers and swaybars put on after I get my bonus check.

I spent like two hours trying to get the radio in mine working instead of displaying "Err" Also I love mine. It sits in the driveway and I cant think of any excuses to go and drive it. We need to start a gang. A violence gang of rampaging miatas.

Today I saw a miata (well...MX-5 actually, it was a 3rd gen)

The dude looked at my car as he passed me in a 4 way stop and i got behind him. Has car was quite clean and he was avoiding all of the potholes on the road, so I kinda figured he was an enthusiast. What didn't jive was the bumpersticker he had a ways above his exhaust pipe.

When I got close enough I was actually able to read the bumper sticker, which as it turned out was shaped in a sort of semicircle above his exhaust. It said "Listen, and hear the song of my people"
